League Rules
- West Valley Fastpitch (WVFP) will follow D1 Prospects rules and rulebooks for all games
- Only WVFP rules will take precedence over D1 Prospects softball rules
- D1 Prospects is the sanctioning body for WVFP
General Rules and Regulations
WVFP has a ZERO tolerance policy for abusive behavior and unsportsmanlike conduct.
A player, coach, or spectator will not direct any derogatory or abusive remarks towards another player, coach, spectator, or umpire.
Any actions of abusive behavior or remarks will cause the spectator, player, and coach to be ejected from the game and/or park.
Positive chants and cheers are acceptable and encouraged.
Negative or derogatory chants are prohibited. This includes chants or cheers to distract or alter a pitcher's timing.
Any teams heard using negative or derogatory chants and cheers may forfeit games at the board's discretion.
WVFP strives to keep the softball fields and complex as clean as possible, please clean up after yourselves and adhere to the following complex rules:
No dogs, except for vested service animals
No scooters, bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, etc.
No sunflower seeds
No smoking
No alcohol
Teams are responsible for cleaning up the dugouts after their games.
Players cannot play down in age classification, however, they may play up in age classification
Age classification is based on how old the player is prior to September 1st of the previous year.
A player MUST attend a minimum of 75% of their games to be eligible for All Stars.
Teammate requests are NOT Guaranteed. In order for a teammate request to be considered each player must request each other.
We do our best to make sure that family members are kept together on the same team.
Coach requests are NOT honored.
Game Time Rules and Regulations
Regular season games can end in a tie
Home team will be the second team listed on the schedule
Home team is responsible for making sure the field is chalked and prepped for the game
Teams are allowed 10 defensive players on the field. Open substitution is allowed.
There must be 8 players present for a game to begin
If a team plays with 8 players then an automatic out will be taken for the 9th batter.
Pick-up players are allowed.
Pick-up players must come from other teams within our league.
Any pick-up player must play in the outfield and bat last in the line up.
Teams must bat all players that are present for the game
All players listed on a line up for the game must be present prior to their turn at bat.
If a player is on a line up and not present for their at bat an out will be taken each time their turn is up until she arrives
If a player is sick or injured during a game and cannot play the head coach must inform the umpire and the opposing team’s coach.
The player will not be allowed to reenter the game.
The offensive and defensive teams will trade positions after 3 outs by the defensive team or 6 runs scored by the offensive team.
Coaches must meet the umpire at home plate prior to game time
Teams are not permitted to warm up on the infield
Teams may only warm up in the outfield and in foul territory
Metal cleats are allowed for 14U and 18U teams only
Lead offs are allowed after the ball leaves the pitcher’s hand
A player may not sit more than 1 inning in a row
Any player who misses practices or games may be limited in play time during games after the coach speaks with the VP of their age group
- During the spring and fall season the 14U and 18U age groups will be combined.
